I was asking for clarity, not a dictionary definition. I know what it means, but I wasn't sure if you were using it in the context I thought you were using it in.
But anyway, okay, I think I understand now. It's probably because Shifu puts himself out there more than Mr. Ping does. It's his duty as a kung fu master to be bold in certain situations, and that does occasionally mean that bad things will happen. Mr. Ping can't do that, so he ends up in slightly more favorable situations than Shifu.
