    Day 23:   Chinese Architecture

    Artistic architecture

Continuing with our event's current theme on the Kung Fu Panda franchise's portrayal of Chinese culture. our next stop on our tour of the culture is the ancient and majestic Chinese architecture!

This is another very unique feature in the orient—the design can be recognized by anyone around the world. And what's even cooler than that? They've designed their buildings and structures similarly (if not the same way) for thousands of years! Now the design's been made into one of many symbols for their culture. During the Kung Fu Panda artistic team's trip to China, they had a look at this ancient architectural style and went to great lengths to capture all the details just right for the films. In addition, they used repetitive patterns and added motifs to further emphasize and illustrate the unique architectural designs. Thanks to all their hard work, we, as their audience, get more eye candy. :)

Like yesterday, share anything you'd like on the subject. Here are some specific discussion questions to get you started:

    • What do you like/dislike about Chinese architecture?
    • Are there any buildings or structures from the franchise that you especially like?
    • What kind of building or structure are you're hoping to see in the future?

Most of all I like the Chinese buildings because even if they're old they look so mystical and beautiful! ...But the new buildings I don't like that much because they look just like all new buildings in the world - boring...

In Kung Fu Panda I like the Jade Palace most, especially the Trainings Hall (which was built by Shifu and Taotie). It's awesome! Just like all buildings in Kung Fu Panda they look so natural!

So no matter which places will appear in the future, I'm pretty sure they'll be as awesome as the ones before!

It's very beautiful and it's very awesome, 'cause it's built without any nails! Can you imagine that last for thousand years. And it just use wood to build. Well, I very like his pagoda, it's beautiful, and that's make chinese culture different from any culture.

In kung fu panda, i most like the Jade Palace, and Barracks, In barracks, everything are so simple, like ancient time. And in jade palace, everything rendered so fantastic. It's look all the crew was doing the best.

I love Chinese architecture because you can't find anything like it anywhere else. I've always wanted to hike the Great Wall of China or climb to the top of a tall pagoda and gaze at the amazing city surrounding it. I also wish to see the Forbidden City temples. Overall, Chinese architecture is amazing and unique.
