- Rooster was introduced to "out" Po and challenge him to fight in a moment where he and the panda kids are trying to fly under the radar. The character and his warthog henchmen (Wing and Wong) became so popular with the show writers, especially after the casting of his voice actor Michael Rivkin, they decided to bring him back.[1]
- Rooster's voice actor, Michael Rivkin, went to school with Po's film voice actor Jack Black, and they remain friends to this day. Rivkin's comedy rock band SuperFloss also occasionally tours with Black's comedy rock band Tenacious D.[1]
