Who's Ganna win today. Po from Kung Fu Panda or CatNap from SM Toons: Poppy Playtime
In my last post, I talked about my original character named Rao, an Asiatic Lion whose village is ransacked by bandits and travels to China to find warriors to stop them. From where I left off, Rao makes his way to the city of Jinzhou, where he sees a street fight going down in the town square. On the left he sees a big burly boar, while on the right he sees a jaded Sun Bear failing to keep up. Rao is marveled by the fighting, never had he seen anything so awesome ever in his life. As the bear gets pummeled by the boar, his adversary throws punch at him, but the bear blocks it. He then grabs his arm and spins him down to the ground. The boar charges at him, but little does he know what the bear has up his sleeve next. With full force, he kicks the beast right in the jaw and grabs his tusks, throwing him into a rickshaw. The bear then walks off with the money he won, looking proud. Rao follows him into a tea shop, telling him he fought amazingly. The bear tells him that his name is Yonggan, and Rao tells him his. Yonggan asks him what he his doing in Jinzhou of all places, but Rao asks him the same question. Yonggan, taking a breath, tells him that he once trained at the Jade Palace under Master Oogway. Rao, having no idea what the Jade Palace or who Oogway is, listens anyway. He tells him that he had lost his family, and came to Oogway for spiritual guidance. He was taught all the famous Kung Fu moves, and the wisdom of the universe. While his body was at peace, his mind was not, and he strived for something more. He wanted to find out who had taken the lives of his family those years ago. He told Oogway that he would be leaving to find this mysterious perpetuator, but he has been looking for him for the past forty years and has not returned to the palace. He gave up on his quest eventually and resorted to fighting for money, not the most honorable way of using Kung Fu. He finishes, and lets Rao tell his story. He tells him of the Lizards coming from the sands, taking their goods and burning their houses. He was the only one able to get away, and he traveled all this way to get as much help as possible. Yonggan, seeing potential in the boy, tells him knows just the people to help, and that he is going to help him free his village. To be continued (eventually).

Po, Shifu, and the Five are all bilingual in Chinese and English. Oogway is quadrilingual.
Lately I have been seeing a lot of people creating their own original KFP characters, so I thought that I should take a crack at it. Enter Rao, a young Asiatic Lion living in the desert of India. Rao finds a hard time fitting in with everybody else, as all the other Lions spend time as merchants or craftsmen. Rao on the other hand strives for something more, a life of adventure and excitement. But the desert is a very isolated place, so Rao may have to wait for this ultimate life he seeks. Until one fateful day, everything turns to hell. His village is ransacked by a group of bandits, but not just any bandits, the Black Steel Flying Lizards. Many years ago, the Lizards were banished by Oogway from China after their defeat by him at the Battle of Burning Sky. They had no choice but to flee south to India as punishment. The Lizards take full control over Rao’s village, with him being the only one to escape. Feeling guilt that he did not stand up for his people, Rao decides that the only way to stop the bandits is to find a group of powerful warriors. Rao travels for days, and the days become weeks, until he finally is able to reach China. Rao makes his way over to Jinzhou city, a cesspool known for its Kung Fu street fighters and small time criminals. In the town square, Rao sees two fighters in match, curious but none of the less intrigued. There he meets a warrior who will alter the path of his life forever, and I will talk about him in a separate post. So that was my character pitch for Rao, so what do think and how might I be able to improve my writing skills?

Inspired by Abbott and Costello’s 7 x 13 = 28 routine!
It was dinnertime at the end of the day at the Jade Palace, and Po is cooking as usual.
“ok, tonight’s menu is….dumplings!” Po decided.
While Po was cooking, Zhen tried to sneak a bite
.
“hey!” Po snapped as he used a wok on Zhen’s paw, which it hurt!
“come on, boss, just one sample!” Zhen pleaded.
“no, there’s 7 of us (me, the furious five, and you) to feed, (Shifu and my dads already ate) and there are 28 dumplings for dinner right now. in case the others don’t want any more for leftovers later on, I’ll put 4 a-piece of dumplings in the cupboard on the top shelf next to Monkey’s almond cookies. And don’t you dare tell him I ate his cookies again!” Po explained as he showed Zhen how to learn the “leftover rules” that Po came up with.
Zhen shook her head with a grin. “Po, Po, Po…. You got it all wrong. You’re cheating yourself” Zhen guffawed.
“what do you mean?” Po asked obliviously.
“what I mean is that it ain’t 4 dumplings times 7 equals 28, it should be 13 dumplings times 7 equals 28. So that way it would be 13 weeks plenty for leftovers.” Zhen corrected.
“Yes that sounds about- wait, what?!”
Po blinked and then double-took his head three times on the side with a confused look on his face.
“Did… did you say, we each get thirteen dumplings?” asked Po, not sure if he heard Zhen right.
Zhen nodded with a smile, “Sure did!”
“Thirteen?”
“Yep, that’s what I said!”
As Po stared at Zhen with a stunned look on his face, he did his own calculations in his head. Even after he figured out his own math (though Po never went to school much to Mr. Ping's dissapointment), Zhen’s answer still didn’t make any sense to him.
Po shook his head, “Zhen… seven times thirteen isn’t twenty-eight.”
“Yes it is!” Zhen insisted.
“No it’s not!”
“Sure is!”
“Zhen, seven times four is twenty-eight, not thirteen!”
“Nah, I’m pretty sure that seven times thirteen is twenty-eight.”
Po squinted his eyes at Zhen, “Zhen, do you ever go to school?”
“Sure did!” said Zhen. “I even have my degree with me, see?”
With her tail, she pulled out her degree from her tail, which was covered with small patches of noodle stains and grey hair. The degree itself is actually a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Chow Ling academy with a legit seal and a signature, assuming from the Dean. (which Zhen actually stole it from Juniper City) Po was not sure what to make of this. Po wanted to ask Zhen why Zhen feels the need to get a PHD degree in stealing, but Po decided to put that aside and focused on the main issue.
“Zhen… I read many kung fu scrolls from basic to advance level and I can assure you that seven times thirteen is definitely not twenty-eight!”
Zhen stuffed her degree back in her tail and then giggled, “Silly Po, you got to keep yourself updated. Your scrolls are totally outdated when it comes to math!”
“They are not outdated!” Po snapped. “These scrolls are current! These copies of scrolls came from the thousand scrolls of kung fu!”
Zhen gasped, “Well no wonder, Shifu himself is probably fallen behind with mathematics!”
Zhen gently draped her paw around Po’s neck and gave him a sympathetic look. “I am so sorry for you Po, especially that you’re a master of kung fu that couldn’t keep up with the times.”
Po let out his frustrated groan. he was about to argue with Zhen but he stopped himself. Remembering Shifu’s advice, Po calmed himself down by placing his to his chest, and then breathed out, said “inner peace”, as he extended his paw. Once he calmed himself, Po was thinking of a way to show Zhen just how absurd her math was.
Then he had an idea.
Po turned towards Zhen, “Alright Zhen, if you’re so sure of this, then I want you to prove it!”
Po pulled down a large menu chalkboard on wheels appeared right in front of them.
Po pointed at the chalkboard with his paw. “If you can prove it to me that seven times thirteen is in fact twenty-eight, which is not, then I’ll let you be my official assistant chef for the entire week!”
“REALLY?” asked Zhen while her eyes sparkled with glee. “You’ll let me be your official assistant chef for the week?”
Po nodded, “Really.”
Zhen was ecstatic that her mentor is going to let her be his assistant chef for the week. She offered Po to teach her how to cook so many times before, but Po always turned her down. Now that Zhen is going to be Po’s assistant chef, Zhen came up with so many possibilities of what she and Po can do together at Mr. Ping’s Noodle Restaurant.
Zhen was about to leap into the air and start to celebrate, but Po interrupted her. “However, if you can’t prove it, then you’ll have to give me a free noodles from my dad’s noodle restaurant every single day for the entire week! Do we have a deal?”
Zhen had a serious look on her face with her paw on her chin as she was thinking about Po’s deal. After a short moment, Zhen nodded.
“Okay Po, it’s a deal… but you’ll have to Promise me that you’ll honor your deal!”
“Fine,” Po said, “but only if you Promise as well!”
They both nodded and performed their Promise chant.
“Cross my heart and hope to fly, stick a dumpling in my eye!”
Zhen nodded with her satisfied smile, “Great, so it’s official! Just don’t get too upset after I prove it to you.”
“IF you can prove it!” said Po feeling confident.
Zhen giggled, “Of course I can silly, I’ll show you.”
“Then show me!” Po challenged as he a piece of chalk to Zhen.
“Ok!” Zhen chirped.
Zhen took the chalk from Po with her hand… somehow, and then turned towards the chalkboard.
“Okay, so there’s only seven of us at dinner right?” asked Zhen.
Po nodded, “That’s correct.”
“Alrighty, I’ll put in a seven.”
With her chalk, Zhen wrote down a huge number seven on the chalkboard.
Zhen turned to face Po. “We have the total of twenty-eight dumplings you cooked for dinner, right?”
“That’s right.”
“Okay, then I’m going to divide.”
Zhen turned towards the chalkboard again and wrote down the number twenty-eight in between the brackets right next to the number seven on the right.

Zhen turned to Po again. “Okay so here’s twenty-eight trays of dumplings.”
Po studied the writings on the chalkboard for a moment and then shifted his eyes at Zhen.
“Now you claimed that seven goes into twenty-eight thirteen times?” Po questioned.
Zhen nodded, “That’s right!”
“Okay, then show me!” said Po.
“Alrighty~!” Replied Zhen.
Zhen moved to the chalkboard again while Po watched Zhen’s every move.
“Seven into two?” asked Zhen.
Po shook his head.
“Seven will not go into two!” Zhen explained.
“Obviously!” muttered Po.
Zhen continued, “No matter how much you push this big ol’ seven into that tiny little two, it won’t budge! I mean why would a big ol’ seven want to push this poor little two around? The little two didn’t do anything to hurt that big ol’ seven! *GASP* What if those two numbers are not friends? That would be so awful! OOH I KNOW! I’ll throw together the ‘Let’s Not Push Each Other Around Anymore and Be Best Friends Instead’ technique! Then those two numbers will be best friends forever or else-“
“ZHEN, FOCUS!” Po snapped.
Zhen grinned sheepishly, “Oops, sorry Po, I got a little carried away.”
Zhen eyes went back to the chalkboard again.
“Annnnnyywho, I’m going to take this little two and put it right down there!”
Zhen wrote a very tiny little two almost towards the bottom of the chalkboard.

“Look at that tiny little two, isn’t it cute?” gushed Zhen.
“Oh yes Zhen, that two is very cute.” Po said sarcastically while he rolled his eyes.
Zhen giggled, “I knew you agree! Now don’t forget that tiny little two in your hands~! Don’t drop it, don’t break it, don’t lose it.”
Po sighed, “I won’t Zhen.”
“Good!”
After that setback, Zhen resumed her math problem to Po.
“Now then, seven into eight?” asked Zhen.
“It’s once!” Po answered.
Zhen nodded, “Right! So we’ll put the one there!”
Zhen added the number one at the right of the number twenty-eight.

“Now I’m going to carry the seven because it’s getting really heavy for me. Soooooo, I’m just gonna put the seven right underneath there!” Zhen explained.
Zhen then wrote down the number seven underneath the number eight of the number twenty-eight and then draws a line under the seven.

“Now, seven from eight?” asked Zhen.
“It’s one!” Po answered again.
Zhen nodded, “Yep, it’s one! So now I’ll put the one down there!”
Zhen wrote the number one underneath the seven.

Zhen turned to Po, “Now Po, do you still remember that little two I asked you not to forget?”
Po sighed, “No Zhen, I did not forget the two. You told me not to forget the two almost a minute ago!”
Zhen giggled, “Well I’m glad you didn’t! Because now I’m going to use it!”
Po gave Zhen his skeptical look, “You’re going to use that two?”
Zhen nodded with her smile, “Yep! So I’m taking the two from here… and place it right there next to the one”
Zhen erased the tiny two at the bottom of the chalkboard with an eraser. Then she picked up her chalk again and wrote the normal size two next to the number one on its left side at the bottom of the equation.

Zhen turned to Po again, “Now, seven into twenty-one?”
“It’s three!” Po answered.
Zhen grinned, “Yep, three!”
Zhen turned towards the chalkboard and wrote the number three next to the number one at the top of the equation, making it thirteen.

Zhen turned towards Po with a huge grin on her face and pointed at the chalkboard, “See! Seven, twenty-eight, thirteen!”
Po stood in front of the chalkboard with a look of disbelief. he couldn’t believe that Zhen can easily make seven into twenty-eight thirteen times even though it is impossible to do! Po shook his head furiously as he erased the chalkboard with his eraser.
“Oh no no no no! This cannot be right!” Po shouted as he erased everything on the board.
“Of course it’s right! I just showed you!” said Zhen.
“Yeah but… this isn’t… I… you ever go to school, stupid?!”
“yep, and I came out the same way”
Po was about to hyperventilate but he calmed himself down again with Shifu’s inner peace technique from before. Once Po finished with his inner peace technique, he turned towards Zhen with his eyes squinted at Zhen.
“Look Zhen,” said Po. “I’m still not convinced! You got to give me a better proof than that!”
Po handed a piece of chalk again and presented it to Zhen. “How about you multiply this time!”
“You want me to multiply it?” asked Zhen.
Po nodded, “Yes, I want you to put down thirteen times seven! Multiply this!”
“all-righty!” Zhen chirped.
Zhen took the chalk from Po and wrote down the number thirteen and then the number seven under thirteen with the line drawn under the seven on the chalkboard.

“Okay Po, they’re on the board~!” Zhen said in her cheerful tone.
Po squinted his eyes at the multiplication on the chalkboard and then he nodded.
“Perfect! Now Zhen, you claimed that seven times thirteen equals to what?” asked Po.
“Twenty-eight!” Zhen said without hesitation.
“Alright, prove it Zhen!” Po challenged.
“You got it!”
Zhen turned towards the chalkboard again.
“Now, seven times three?” asked Zhen.
“Twenty-one.” Po answered.
Zhen wrote twenty-one under the line.

“Seven.”
Zhen wrote seven under the one of twenty-one.

“Yep twenty- HEY WAIT A MINUTE!”
Po ran up to the chalkboard until his face was close to the board and looked it over for any mistakes.
“… NO! THAT’S IMPOSSIBLE! IT SHOULDN’T COME OUT RIGHT!” Po screamed.
“It’s possible or else I’ll tell Monkey that you ate his cookies~!” Zhen said in her singsong voice.
“NO IT’S NOT!” shouted Po as he erased everything on the board with the eraser again.
“Yes it is~! I just did it!” Zhen said with a smile.
“AAAAAUGH!” Po loudly groaned.
“what’s going on?” Tigress asked as she and the five came in.
“ZHEN IS TRYING TO CONVINCE ME THAT 7 X 13 = 28, BUT I SAY THAT ZHEN’S MATHEMATICS IS BALONEY!!!!” Po screamed.
“whoa! Take it easy, brother!” Monkey calmed Po.
“this I gotta see!” smiled Viper
“wow! 7 x 13 = 28! This is gonna be epic!” Mantis grinned.
“Wanna watch?” Crane asked.
“Don't be ridiculous, of course I don't want to— Ooh, this does look good.” Tigress said.
All of Po’s composure was thrown out the window. Even Shifu’s inner peace won’t calm him now. Zhen somehow made the impossible possible again, but with multiplication this time! Po was getting desperate, but he had one more idea to make Zhen realize how ridiculous her math is.
“Alright no horsing around!” Po snapped as his left eye twitched.
“But Po, I’m a fox and you’re a panda, we’re not horses.” Zhen said innocently.
Po glared at Zhen, “That’s not what I… UHG, never mind! I’m still not convinced about this! The only sure way you can prove this is by using addition!”
Zhen titled her head, “You want me to add?”
“Yes!” Po exasperated. “I want you to put down the number thirteen seven times on the board, draw a line underneath them and then add them all up!”
Oblivious to Po’s anger, Zhen nodded with a smile, “Okay Po! If that’s what you want!”
Zhen once again picked up the chalk and then wrote down the number thirteen on the board seven times and then drew a line underneath them.

“Okay Po, all seven thirteens are on the board~!” Zhen said cheerfully.
Po stared at the board for a moment and then looked at Zhen sternly in her eyes. “Alright, now you claimed that all seven thirteens, adds up amounts to what?”
Zhen nodded rapidly, “ 28 And I’m gonna prove it to you right now!”
Zhen was about to start adding the numbers but Po took her chalk away.
“oh no you don’t, Zhen! Gimme the chalk!” Po exclaimed. “Let me do all the adding this time!”
Zhen stared at Po with a look of uncertainty, “Are you sure Po? I don’t think it’s going to come out right when you do it!”
Po gave Zhen a look that said are you kidding me?
“ Sure, it isn’t! Zhen, who do you think you’re talking to?” Po said, clearly annoyed. “If I can do Kung Fu, I think I’m more than capable to get the correct answer!”
Zhen still looked unsure but then she shrugged. “Alright Po, your funeral!”
“You watch Zhen, there won’t be a mistake!” Po said with high confidence.
Po turned to towards the chalkboard and began to count the threes, adding them as he goes.
“ something’s wrong…Three,
Six,
Nine,
Twelve,
Fifteen,
Eighteen,
Twenty-one! HA! IN YOUR FACE! SKADOOSH!” Po cried with his triumphant smile on his face.
His victorious smile quickly vanished when Zhen took his chalk and began adding the number ones in the most unusual way.
“Twenty-two,
Twenty-three,
Twenty-four,
Twenty-five,
Twenty-six,
Twenty-seven,
Twenty-eight! SPLA-DOOF! KA-CHOW!” Zhen said as she wrote down a big number twenty-eight at the bottom of the board.

When she finished, Zhen gave Po her most competitive smile.
The Furious Five (Including Tigress) laughed out loud because they think that is so hilarious that Po may know kung fu, but he doesn't know much about math since he never went to school, as Mr. Ping once claimed.
Po just stood there in shock while his mouth hung open. Zhen was able to get twenty-eight by adding thirteen seven times! This boggled his mind! Nothing makes sense to him anymore! Worse of all, Zhen has to be Po’s assistant chef for a week!
Zhen trotted up to Po and patted on Po’s back in attempt to cheer him up.
“Look on the bright side, Po!” Zhen said with a smile. “You can still have a free noodles every day for a week while I’m your new assistant! In fact, you can have all thirteen noodles favors for free every day! So that means you’ll get the total of twenty-eight free noodles for this week! Great deal, huh?”
The Furious Five kept laughing out loud that Po’s protégé outsmarted him in math. Even Mantis rolled out of his seat laughing, then coughing.
Po banged his head against the chalkboard repeatedly. “WHYYYYYYY?!”
